If you have not read part 1, please start there. If you don’t, in summary, in early 2020 I had a fantastically whimsical experience purchasing the chunkiest sweater I’ve ever seen from a man in Cornwall. While I loved the experience of purchasing it, the actual sweater ended up being too chunky for frequent wear.

I had occasionally considered trying to sell the sweater, but I wasn’t sure how easy it’d be to find someone who appreciated how special it was, and I was too sentimental to just sell it for cheap. Then I received the following email:

Email inquiry for sweater sale

Finally a real enthusiast! We shared some emails back and forth where I warned him of the sweater’s weight and ruggedness, and he assured me it was exactly what he was looking for. We made sure the measurements would work, then finalized the sale for about what I paid initially.

While I was figuring out shipping, we discussed our sweater collections more in detail. I had been interested recently in vintage submariner style sweaters from a variety of British brands, and it turns out he actually had quite a few in his collection and was able to recommend one from Outdoor Knitwear which had had a fantastic sale going at the moment, so I ended up purchasing it. It was much cheaper than some others I was considering, but still very substantial and rugged feeling.

During this time, I took a trip to Ireland with Neha during which we did a ton of sweater shopping, and I ended up getting a beautiful handknit Aran sweater on Inishmore of the Aran islands itself! I discussed this with him as well, and he mentioned how he had actually visited Inishmore for his honeymoon 25 years prior.

Finally I bundled up the sweater tightly in many protective layers and send it on its way. After some confusing import delays, it made it to its destination, the UK, back to the home country of Peter Peter.
